pomaceous
/pɒˈmeɪʃəs/ adj
- of, relating to, or bearing pomes, such as the apple, pear,
and quince trees http://www.wordreference.com/definition/pomaceous
A pome is the fleshy fruit of the apple
and related plants, it consists of
an enlarged receptacle, enclosing
ovary and seeds.
The hawberry,
though you might not think it,
is a pome.
Chinese hawthorn pomes
are used to produce
jams, jellies, juices,
alcoholic beverages;
In Mexico, hawthorn pomes
are called tejocotes: they are
eaten raw, cooked, or in jam
during the winter months;
in America
we do not use the pomes
at all.

Oh, that last stanza.
I quite like your pome poem. :-)
Thank you! It's not quite true, actually, I understand that in the South they sometimes make Mayhaw jelly.
I have some mayhaw jelly! It's rare these days--saving it in my weird Southern jellies and preserves collection.
